Mchanga Lodge is the perfect setting for an Indian Ocean beach holiday and is one of the most idyllic beachfront lodges in Zanzibar. Each of the 6, intimate, sea view rooms at this peaceful boutique hotel are tastefully furnished and have electric ceiling fans, air conditioning and traditional, high-beamed ceilings. The two large Garden Suites enjoy the same furnishing, accessories and finishings as the Sea View rooms. The Garden Suites also include a double baraza seating area that can be converted into additional sleeping area if required. Mchanga Lodge is one of our favourite smaller resorts on the island. This is the epitome of simple island barefoot luxury. From the moment you walk in, you can kick off your shoes and walk in sand (Mchanga is Kiswahili for "sand") that covers the resort. It is set on a beautiful beach but like the rest of Zanzibar, is tidal so its difficult to swim at low tide. The huge and refreshing pool more than makes up for this however at low tide. Its a small resort so great for romantic getaways and honeymooners but not for those who want more lively atmosphere. It is owner run and offers great service - and above all great relaxation!
