OVERVIEW
Little Vumbura is situated on an island in a private concession in the northern reaches of the Okavango Delta, in the same region as its sister camp, Vumbura Plains. Many people describe this as one of their favourite camps in the Delta. The reason for this is because it is small and offers an excellent mix of activities (land and water based) as well as the option to go on walks. The game viewing is excellent and in winter this camp is in a perfect position to experience the full benefit of the flood waters that pour into the Delta. Sometimes you may need to get to camp by mokoro if the waters are very high!

RESPONSIBLE TOURISM
Little Vumbura and Kaparota are situated in the extreme north of the Okavango, about 30km north of Mombo, in what is known locally as the Kwedi Reserve. The entire area of over 100,000 hectares has been ceded by the Botswana Government and the Tawana Land Board to the people who live along the Okavango's northern boundary so that they can derive direct benefits from the wildlife and the environment on their doorstep. These people live in five traditional villages to the north of the Okavango and the Kwedi. To ensure that the benefits from this arrangement are spread throughout all the people in this area, annual payments are made which go to a trust called The Okavango Community Trust. This trust represents the interests of all the people living in the five villages to the north of the Okavango. They also get the first job opportunities, the training and the benefits of other community projects that are run in the area from time to time. Upon arrival at Little Vumbura you are welcomed in song by the staff. The lodge is completed surrounded by water and the only access is by boat. We found the atmosphere at this community owned & run lodge energetic. The service and cuisine is exquisite. Dinner at the communal table is a buzz of stories of the day’s adventure.
