OVERVIEW
Porini Rhino Camp is located in Ol Pejeta Conservancy a 90,000 acre wildlife conservancy situated between the foot hills of the Aberdares and the magnificent snowcapped Mount Kenya. Ol Pejeta Conservancy boasts an astounding variety of animals including all the “Big Five” (the endangered black rhino, leopard, elephant, buffalo and lion) as well a sanctuary for rescued chimpanzees. The camp consists of six spacious guest tents, each comfortably furnished with en suite bathrooms. The camp is very environmentally-friendly with solar powered lighting and no generator. Game drives are taken in the camp’s 4x4 safari vehicles with qualified safari guides. Guided walks are taken on the open plains escorted by Maasai warriors. Night drives are also taken to see the nocturnal animals.

RESPONSIBLE TOURISM
- The Ol Pejeta Conservancy is approx 90,000 acres in size and is the largest sanctuary in East Africa for the endangered Black Rhino. The aim of the Conservancy is to generate profits from wildlife tourism for reinvesting into community development in the local area. Porini Camp was selected as one of the Camps to help in accomplishing these goals. Porini Camp is run and maintained with the conservation of the environment at the forefront. We have a written environmental policy in regards to water, land, energy, solid waste and sewage which is adhered to by the camp management. The numbers of tourist visitors are being limited to retain the wild and unspoilt nature of the area and to minimise the impact on the environment.
- GAMEWATCHERS and PORINI CAMPS partnered with GIVE WATTS to provide solar lighting to Iloirero Primary School. The School is situated nearby to the Selenkay Conservancy home to Porini Amboseli Camp. Porini Rhino Camp is a great add-on to either an Amboseli or Masai Mara safari as it complements the wilderness experience. You get a great feeling for East African conservation projects, this is highlighted by having 4 of only the 8 Northern White Rhino in the world in its conservancy as well as around 80 Black Rhino. The growing population of wild dog make for interesting viewing aswell.
